This session will describe about the OBJCT SPY. Object Spy can help out to decide the useful functions and properties related or associated with this instance in the available environment.

We will discuss about the GetRoProperty, GetToProperty and SetToProperty.

First GetRoProperty:

Ø     GetToProperty – This in built function used to retrieve the value during the runtime of any instance or object property.

Ø     Four 4 steps are included in it to using the GetRoProperty

1. In Object Repository where you want to use this GetRoProperty first need to record the object for this.
2. Run time property can be recognized by the recorded object which can be used. Here Object Spy may use.
3. Now use GetRoProperty function to retrieve the recognized run time property and save the value in any instance or variable.
4. This value can be used for further deductions.

SetToProperty And GetToProperty

Ø     Decided to Web Button saved in the Object Repository

Ø     QTP generates a copy of this object during test run and it called Test object and need to compares it with the run time object.

Ø     GetToProperty is used to regain the value of any property of any Test Object.

Ø     SetToProperty is used to change the value of property for any Test Object.

Ø     Test Object is discarded when this test is completed and using the SetToProperty you can made modifications in object property.

Ø     During Test Re-run, a new copy of the test object is generated with the value of original property value saved into Object repository.

Ø     During the GetToProperty & SetToProperty decision when test script has many lines of code and related environment is irregular.

Ø     Keep in mind there is no SetRoProperty.
